My name is Jessica Hernandez, 21 years of age, born in Laredo TX. Daughter of Veronica Ayala and Jesus Hernandez. They have supported me in everything I have set my mind to .I have a younger sibling, Jesus Hernandez Jr , who is also a black belt. He is what strives me to become a better me everyday. I am his role model and I hope that I am a role model to all the girls that are in Martial Arts as well. I am currently an Honors student at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley pursuing a Bachelor’s in Nursing. Apart from being a full-time student, I am also a dedicated instructor here at Team Tiger Martial Arts. I have been in Martial arts since I was nine years old. At the age of nine I started to learn the meaning of discipline and respect. Which is one of the skills one needs to have for a successful future. Throughout the hard work and dedication, I put in this sport, I received my blackbelt when I was thirteen years old. I am currently a third degree blackbelt in Taekwon-Do, hoping to belt test for my fourth degree soon. I am also a Hyper certified instructor, a program whose mission is to inspire the next generation of martial arts athletes worldwide. One of my biggest accomplishments through out my time in martial arts is becoming an instructor and inspiring many of my students to reach their goal in becoming a black belt from this school. I have competed since I was a beginner belt. I have received many first places throughout my competition years. My strongest division in competition is sparring and traditional katas. Weapons I am best at are Kamas and fans. I have performed for various places and have appeared in Commercials for Team Tiger Martial Arts. I have gained many failures here and I have learned lessons as well. I had to overcome one of my biggest fear in this school and that is failure, but I have learned that
one must fail to succeed. In conclusion I have gained a supporting family here at this school and above all, a love for this sport.
